Safari Add Ons - Mombasa and Zanzibar back
After the thrill of a safari, we would recommend a few days relaxing at a beach hotel. Both Mombasa and Zanzibar offer the perfect beach relaxation and on the following pages we include a small choice of the hotels available. Please give us a call for full details.
Mombasa
Easily reached via a short flight from Nairobi, Mombasa is an excellent choice for a relaxing break.
There are beautiful, long, white sand beaches, a good choice of hotels and succulent seafood to
taste. Whilst visitors can simply enjoy the facilities at their hotel, there are many things to do in the
area, for those looking for culture and fun.
Your choice of accommodation includes treehouses, a remote tented retreat, medium-sized
family hotels, all-inclusive hotels and a luxurious and romantic properties where your every whim
is catered for.
A landmark of Mombasa, FortJesus overlooks the city harbour. The former Portuguese fort has now been turned into a fascinating museum. The historic old town of Mombasa is home to tall, white buildings, narrow streets and stunning mosques. In contrast to the busy Kenyan capital Nairobi, Mombasa has a very relaxed, Arabic atmosphere.
Whilst in Mombasa why not enjoy sailing, surfing and other water sports? Diving in Mombasa is a
pleasure as the blue Indian Ocean is rich in marine life, corals and wrecks just waiting to be explored.
You can also play golf in Mombasa. Why not try a dhow cruise with dinner whilst watching the sun
set? Life on the coast moves at a slow pace, making this the perfect end to a Kenyan holiday.
Zanzibar
There are so many reasons to travel to Zanzibar. The sultry beaches are unrivalled, it is visually
stunning, and there are unique forest reserves and plantations with fruit, vegetables and spices.
You arrive in quirky StoneTown with its boutiques and restaurants. This is an extraordinary place to explore; the ancient maze of narrow streets is a romantic hotchpotch of historic old stone buildings built close for cool respite from the tropical island sun, and shaded by elegantly carved balconies, loggias and verandahs.
Stay in StoneTown and explore, or choose one of the resort hotels that stretch around the coast.
The best beaches on ZanzibarIsland are to the North and East, where the sun shines on brilliantly
clear waters in a range of striking turquoise blues, and the sand is clean, bright and fine. Many enjoy a spice tour and pick, smell and savour exotic fruits and spices, or explore JozaniForest in search of the rare red colobus monkeys.
This is a perfect idyll for rest and relaxation.
